JOURNEY 9: Waterfalls & Nature Experience: BUON MA THUOT – LAK LAKE

Day 1: Buon Ma Thuot – Waterfalls – Lak Lake

– Welcome at Buon Ma Thuot Airport or Buon Ma Thuot Bus Station, then begin our city tour.

– Visit Ako Dhong (Akothon) Village, home of the Ê Đê ethnic minority.

– Explore Trung Nguyen Coffee Village, where you can see three types of coffee trees: Arabica, Robusta, and Excelsa.

– Buon Ma Thuot is the coffee capital of Vietnam, especially famous for weasel (civet) coffee. If you are interested, you may try this special coffee (available mainly during the coffee season, from November onward).

– Continue to Dray Sap and Dray Nur Waterfalls, among the largest and most impressive waterfalls in Vietnam.

– Spend about two hours walking along a small forest trail, with the river on one side and steep cliffs on the other. Enjoy sightseeing, swimming, taking photos, and the beautiful natural scenery.

– 12:30 pm: Lunch with local dishes.

– In the afternoon, drive to Lak Lake, arriving around 4:00–5:00 pm. If weather permits, enjoy the stunning sunset: the western sky glows red while white clouds surround the mountain peaks.

– Dinner with local dishes and overnight in a traditional stilt long house in Jun Village, home of the M’nong ethnic people.

Day 2: Lak Lake – Villages – Return to Buon Ma Thuot

– After breakfast, enjoy a one-hour dugout canoe (piragua) experience on Lak Lake. Paddling in the early morning is peaceful and charming, giving a sense of stepping back in time.

– Optionally, ride an elephant across the lake. The elephants are intelligent and gentle, using their trunks to test the water depth while carrying visitors.

– Visit Jun Village and Le Village, learning about the traditional customs, daily life, and culture of the M’nong ethnic minority.

– Lunch with local dishes.

– After lunch, leave Lak Lake and return to Buon Ma Thuot City or Airport.

– En route, stop to see coffee, rubber, and pepper plantations, and take photos of scenic rice valleys.

– Transfer to Buon Ma Thuot Airport for your onward flight.

– End of services.
